Obedience: In Danger of Extinction?

“You’re not my teacher,” snarled the belligerent elementary school student, mimicking, no doubt, the attitude and language of his well-to-do attorney father. The entire fracas started when I stepped in to the hall outside my classroom in time to see this uncontrolled, abusive little vermin, haul off and without reason, belt a frail, innocent little girl with an apple he threw at point blank range, with the speed of a Roger Clemens fastball. She was down on the hall floor sobbing uncontrollably, her books and papers strewn everywhere. Immediately ordering the student to the principal’s office, I received the above verbal assault. “Escorting” him down personally, I explained to the meek and politically minded principal, that I'd drop in later to see what his punishment was.
I should have known this wimpy excuse for a leader, who was known to pressure top teachers to change poor grades of students with influential parents, wasn’t going to suffer the wrath of this undisciplined malcontent’s father. I was right! The kid got off with no punishment at all. That was shortly before I gave up teaching, many years ago. I just couldn’t stomach, not only the undisciplined children’s abusive behavior, but to have it supported by adult leaders who daily encouraged an attitude that says, “I have rights to do as I please, and to Hell with everyone else.”
Though I've since happily returned to teaching, I have often viewed this destructive attitude among the spoiled brats of the world. They have perfected it, this right to abuse authority and others at will, and they are like flesh eating bacteria in every corner of life, after all, wasn’t this the real intent of the Sixties Cultural Revolution: The liberal right to partake in individual anarchy when it suits our whims?
Why liberal? It would take volumes to explain to those who never knew both worlds, but for beginners, let’s just examine their “Values Clarification” movement birthed in the rebellious Sixties and Seventies and through which the left indoctrinated school children with a new paradigm.
Various humanist organizations have used the National Education Association and its 1.4 million teachers to indoctrinate our children with the various credos of Humanism. In a book published by the NEA's Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, titled To Nurture Humaneness, under the subtitle "Technology and the Decline of Organized Religion," the humanistic message of this organization is made quite plain: "If schools are to move toward humanism, then humanism must become important to all of us, students, teachers, administrators, and the general public." For some time now, NEA educators, under the guise of "behavior modification" and "values-clarification," have been subverting our parental authority, our homes, and the religious beliefs of our children. When one tries to point this out, one is simply labeled a bigoted, anti-intellectual religious fanatic.
From that point on, the traditional values of parents and centuries old societal rules of right and wrong need no longer be followed. “Make up your own rights and wrongs,” they openly encouraged innocent uncritical young minds to do, and that they did. As if relative truth and morality wasn’t ever anything but self-approval for whatever one wanted to do. One could almost hear the whispered words drifting across time and coming from a place called Eden: “You can be like God!”
And so today, these poor souls puffed-up with “self esteem” and their offspring have been infesting every corner of the world. Like polecats, we recognize the stench of liberal personal defiance of traditional moral and social codes everywhere — from “hip hop” artists, “put some ice on it” abuses of ex-presidents, and celebrities, to thousands of students tearing up the streets of Paris. What, after all, my friends, is terrorism if it isn’t the relative morality of “values clarification?” Decide for yourselves what is right and wrong.
In sports, we now strangle our coaches, players fight with fans, heroes tell those who hire them for obscene millions, they will only work if they decide the what, the when, and the where. Check out the asinine situation in baseball, the truly American sport with the ugly side always front and center, whether it’s catering to Darryl Strawberry’s drug abuse, Barry Bond’s steroid enhancement, or this recent fiasco in the new Washington Nationals – “America’s team.”
Alfonso Soriano Refuses to Play Outfield
"I just hope they can fix the situation," Washington outfielder Jose Guillen said. "That's up to the people upstairs and Soriano. I think everybody's a grown-up man here. I just hope for the best for the team and those guys, and that they can fix the situation. But that's pretty much not my business."
He’s right – this is the infantile way “grown ups” behave these days – and for a teammate to think that an obstructing malcontent on his team, isn’t also his business, is remarkably explanatory of liberal self-centeredness and its contamination of everything.
Do these overpaid and overvalued players actually think they can behave like Washington’s politicians who lie to American voters routinely, as well as call the president derogatory names at will and undermine his war efforts?
Today’s spoiled children are always hyper-ready to tell off any authority with a new form of "Who the hell are you –you're not my teacher?" These over-paid pompous spoiled brat athletes make teamwork an oxymoron. Are they rewarded for their belligerent behavior? Usually, but we shall see this one play out, for both sides have staked out equal authority. (How dare the team owners do that?) From the same article:
"We told him if we get to Thursday, and he refuses to play left field, we told him at that point we will request that the commissioner's office place him on the disqualified list, at that time _ no pay, no service time,"…
We will see if the baseball authorities have the courage to exercise their authority with conviction and appropriate action, or whether they’ll fold faster than a Democrat defending our nation.
Along these same lines, here’s a quick one word answer, pop quiz: What great self-centered innovation of liberalism, are we subjected on a regular basis – if not daily?
Protests! Whether they are the silly Cindy Sheehan media performances for those liberal phonies who pretend to be journalists in the MSM, or the masses of unshaven rabble, shuttled in rent-a mob busses to any and every leftist mob scene, tearing up the streets and destroying once peaceful societies, protests are the evolutionary spawn of the liberal Cultural Revolution, because they are prime weapons in destroying other people’s traditional societal values. Protests are the single most obnoxious creation of the last century. Whether it is the uncontrolled rage of the Muslim community in response to cartoons or just another French student riot, liberals have loosed an insatiable monster upon us all.
It is clear, and serves as inarguable evidence of liberal hypocrisy, that those on the left, who so believed in their right to create personal “values,” will have no part in allowing your values to differ from theirs.
